Arun Ulagaratchagan

Arun has had a significant and evolving career at Microsoft, spanning over 20 years, currently serving as Corporate Vice President of Azure Data. His career journey began as an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, and after selling his company and graduating from Stanford Graduate School of Business, he joined Microsoft. What started as a ‘short stint’ to learn more about enterprise sales, turned into a decades-long tenure.

Earlier in his tenure, Arun was responsible for growing Microsoft’s Windows Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server, and Business Intelligence businesses for Microsoft in the APAC region based out of Singapore. Prior to that, Arun held worldwide accountability for growing Microsoft’s SQL Server business with enterprise customers. He has been instrumental in running Power BI from its early days, leading it to become the world’s leading business intelligence platform, and later took ownership of big data analytics, resulting in the launch of Microsoft Fabric.

Today, Arun leads product management, engineering, and cloud operations for databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging and real time intelligence and business intelligence. The mission of Azure Data is to help customers build a new class of data-first applications and drive a data culture where every employee can make better decisions based on data.

The products in his team’s portfolio include Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure MySQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.
